Your phone is stealing your life from you. It is taking your presentness, your ability to enjoy the things around you, your patients, your free time. The love of any hobbies you’ve ever had. It has made you bored, depressed and irritable. Maybe even confused. It has made you distracted, unproductive and even uncomfortable at times.
When was the last time you said to yourself, my cat or dog is so cute? Or what a beautiful sunset? When was the last time you even saw a sunset? Or sunrise? Why do you get so frustrated when your pet or anyone else interrupts you? How come the world seems so much dimmer around you than maybe it once was? Or why does the world seem so much brighter to others?
Wake-up! Consider for a moment when the last time your phone brought you meaning! Has it ever? Have you ever put down your phone and said, I’m so glad that I spent my time on my phone?
I wish that I could tell you how to fix the issues that we have with our phones… I can’t. But the first step to fixing a problem is to know that the problem exists. What is step one? I know that spending time making things makes me feel good and fulfilled. When I make things has a tangible positive effect. When I work on improving a room in my home or when I make a quality meal I have bettered my life and the lives of the people around me and I feel happier.
Because of how much time I waste on my phone I have entertained the thought of getting a flip phone. I would be curious. What do you guys think is the solution to the emptiness that we feel as a result of our phones. Leave a comment and let me know what you think. I would love to hear your thoughts.
